Craig's Tips to Start
These tips will help you through the early stages
1. Pick your class that's right for the job Oh yes things aren't as they seem in this game the warrior is not the tank the lance wielding guy isn't a pure DPS unlike other MMO's so make sure you read up and pick the class that you are most comfortable with 2. Map your mouse or controller Now personally I used the controller and combat is fast and fluid unlike other MMO's where you can think first and cast or act later make sure you are comfortable with your set up take a little time as each new ability comes up to make a workable setup it will save alot of death and shouting at the screen later on 3. You don't Tab Target here In Tera Aiming is key where you point is where you hit keeping your target firmly in your sights is how you will achieve a better DPS or keep your party alive. 4. A little less training a lot more gathering At level 1 you are instantly able to gather and collect trade materials you don't have to wait for level 10 or a capital city take advantage of this from the offset as it will help with your income or use them yourself 5. Rested XP is uber important Not logging off and getting XP in an inn for the evening this is fatigue real a little like reality you cant just keep going and going so rest up by a Campfire every now n then to boost it up as it gives you buffs and means you can continue the fight 6. Chaining skills your way Oh yes don't like the set up that Tera gives you in the outset that when skills proc others then change them and you can make them which ever way you think will work best for you and the way you play this can be found on the skills page 7. You don't need a group of 5 all the time In Tera it is not all about a full group to down a boss 2 or 3 can down anything in PvE only the special super bosses or BAM's will require a full on group to make sure it runs smoothly 8. Gear can be useful even if its not for your class Everyone at level one has the ability to disenchant gear so if its not for you and you still wing it you can destroy it and collect raw trade materials and create something that will suit your needs or sell for more than the old bit of gear would of go you in the first place. 9. Be Reactive in combat situations Things can go wrong fast in Tera adds jumping in at the wrong time (this happened in our first dungeon and Talie then the tank died) skills not chaining when you wanted them too sometimes the enemy wont get knocked down by the spell you were hoping so be ready for this and make exceptions for the most random of thing to happen and you will need to react (Talie got deaded I ran back still shooting and used a scroll of resurrection on her) |

Quest Log tips
Need to locate a quest mob? Use the hyperlink in your quest log!
This is a really awesome trick to locating a group of mobs or a quest location on your minimap, i found this while running on the beta, and it made question a whole lot easier. Quests have specific mobs to kill and their location can be marked on your minimap (opened by pressing N) via using the hyperlnk in your quest log or via clicking on their name in the quest tracker (doesn’t always work). |
